Role Overview: The Station Manager at KSMQ will work with the Staff and Board of Directors to increase the profile and support of KSMQ’s national programming and local production. The role of the Station Manager provides hands-on leadership and a “roll up your sleeves” mentality. Taking a strategic planning approach for station financial growth opportunities, the Station Manager will build relationships that inspire and enrich the lives of the people within the communities served by the station, in an effort to enhance awareness and increase funding initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate creative, “think out of the box” fundraising efforts to support station operations.
  • Cultivate major gifts and donor relationships and increase community awareness/involvement.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the station's budget by providing sound fiscal principles.
  • Participate in regional public television groups and local meetings and events.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the station to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to CPB, FCC, PBS, and EEO compliance.
  • Oversee, supervise, and support departmental operations of the station alongside staff.
  • Evaluate ongoing performance of direct reports and handle employee relations as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in management and supervision of a non-profit organization, its Staff and Board.
  • Possess knowledge of operations and production management within a television station setting.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in general technology, including Microsoft Office and/or similar software.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, or a related field
  • Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant management role within the television industry, non-profit, or other comparable position.
  • Required: Drivers License and Reliable transportation.
  • Required: Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Desired: Proven successful track record of Fundraising/Donor Management.
  • Desired: 5+ years of leadership and employee relations.
