KSMQ Public Television is a non-profit public media broadcaster that provides essential media content and other services to over 700,000 residents in 22 counties in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa and we are seeking a Multimedia Producer.

Position Overview:

The Multimedia Producer is responsible for the creation and execution of television programs, digital content, and broadcast events. This includes supervising writers, associate producers, interns, directors, videographers, editors, and production and operations staff assigned to such projects. The role also involves videography work on location and in the studio, maintaining high creative standards in lighting and composition, as well as non-linear editing.

Key Responsibilities:

Producer

  • Create and execute television broadcast events and digital content.
  • Perform program research and gather visual and other materials as needed.
  • Select talent and/or cast for productions.
  • Establish appropriate locations for productions.
  • Consult with the Managing Producer on program design and execution.
  • Assist the Managing Producer in developing proposals and budgets for new programming opportunities.
  • Select, train, and monitor the progress of broadcast interns.
  • Secure guests and interview subjects as appropriate.
  • Serve as Field Producer, ensuring the crew acquires required video and/or sound for the production.
  • Develop and execute other video productions for internal and external clients as assigned.

Editor

  • Function as Video Editor for all types of station productions using Final Cut Pro X, After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Design and execute video graphic elements and animations.
  • Maintain current knowledge and a creative edge in operating television, audio, and computer graphics equipment for production and post-production.

Videographer

  • Function as Videographer for field and studio productions, providing creative and technically accurate video recordings using Panasonic Lumix DSLR and Sony EX3 cameras.
  • Light projects in both field and studio settings.

Writer

  • Develop and write scripts for documentaries, web series, reality-style productions, dramatic reenactments, and narrative-style productions.

Director

  • Direct live or live-to-recording deck programs, including R-Town.

Graphics

  • Create graphics for shows using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Design and edit the monthly InFocus newsletter/guide using Adobe InDesign.
  • Edit website content provide online editing.

General

  • Perform other job-related functions and duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with producers to visualize projects, either independently or with instruction.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: At least three (3) years of experience as a producer with demonstrated excellence in creating live broadcast programming and field production. A high level of creativity is required, as evidenced by a sample reel.
  • Education: A college degree or equivalent to four (4) years of college with relevant industry knowledge.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in videography and editing, with experience using Final Cut Pro X, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with public broadcasting production and operations as well as digital production expertise.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.

Position Overview:

KSMQ Public Television is seeking a dynamic, career-minded Underwriting and Sponsorship Manager to build meaningful partnerships with businesses and organizations that support public television. This role offers the opportunity to connect organizations with KSMQ’s mission through sponsorship and underwriting opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and relationship-building skills, passionate about serving the community and achieving measurable success.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Identify and prospect new underwriting and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and organizations.
  • Develop customized proposals and presentations to demonstrate value and align sponsorship goals.

Account Management

  • Write and manage sponsor messages in compliance with FCC guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing support and updates to sponsors, including organizing sponsor appreciation activities.
  • Tracking and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of sponsor activities, including tracking charts and rate cards.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly underwriting reports to leadership.

Creative Contributions

  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, including print ads, graphics, and radio commercials for trade advertising.
  • Write and produce voiceovers for sponsor acknowledgments.

Additional Duties:

  • Capture photos related to sponsors for promotional use.
  • Manage the delivery of materials, such as renewal cards and appreciation plaques.
  • Collaborate with team members on station-wide initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and special events as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and PC-based software.
  • Detail-oriented, with a passion for building community relationships.
  • Self-motivated, goal-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in sales, marketing, or public media.
  • Knowledge of broadcasting underwriting guidelines and practices.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) tools is a plus.

Work Environment:

This position requires weekday travel to meet with clients and partners in the region. A valid driver’s license is required.
